Emma is a Nurse Practitioner and Credentialled Diabetes Educator based in Canberra, who is deeply committed to supporting people living with diabetes to feel confident, informed, and empowered in their care. With extensive experience across both paediatric and adult diabetes services, she provides compassionate, evidence-based education tailored to each person’s goals, circumstances, and stage of their diabetes journey. Emma values partnership in care and believes that everyone deserves access to knowledgeable, respectful, and supportive health professionals who take the time to listen and understand lived experience.
Her passion for diabetes care is both professional and personal - living with type 1 diabetes herself, she understands the daily decisions, challenges, and emotional load that come with managing the condition. This lived experience strengthens her empathy and advocacy, and drives her commitment to helping others feel supported rather than overwhelmed.

Emma works with children, adolescents, and adults living with all forms of diabetes, as well as their families and carers. She supports people at all stages of their diabetes journey, from newly diagnosed through to long-term management.

As a Nurse Practitioner, Emma can offer you comprehensive and ongoing care just like a GP or Endocrinologist would. This includes referring you to other health care professionals, ordering diagnostic tests and pathology, and prescribing diabetes and related medications, if required. Emma can prescribe and initiate insulin pump therapy, as well as provide expert ongoing support for optimisation.

Emma completed her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Canberra. She then went on to complete her Graduate Certificate of Diabetes Education and Management at Deakin University, which led to her becoming an Australian Diabetes Educator Association (ADEA) Credentialled Diabetes Educator. Emma has experience across adult and paediatric diabetes service, with a passion for working with children living with T1DM.
More recently, Emma completed her Masters of Nurse Practitioner through La Trobe University and gained endorsement through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. This qualification allows Emma to provide even more advanced care and support in the speciality of diabetes, including being able to provide prescriptions and order pathology. Emma is also a certified pump trainer with all insulin pump companies in Australia, with extensive experience across the four brands.
